Dr. Roshan Jayasuriya is the Consultant
clinical microbiologist at the clinical microbiology laboratory, National
Institute of Health Sciences, Kalutara, Sri Lanka.
In addition, he also serves as the Additional
Approved analyst at the Food and water microbiology laboratory, National
Institute of Health Sciences, Kalutara, Sri Lanka.
Dr. Roshan Jayasuriya received his Bachelor’s degree in Medicine and surgery at the faculty of medicine, Colombo and went on to obtain his Postgraduate Doctorate in Medical Microbiology at the post graduate institute of medicine, Colombo in 2007.
He is a Member of the National Advisory Committee for combating Antimicrobial Resistance (NAC-AMR) and a Member of the National Advisory Committee on Biosafety and biosecurity at the ministry of health Sri Lanka.
He is a Technical Assessor for the accreditation
Scheme for Medical/Clinical Laboratories – ISO 15189:2022 at the Sri Lanka
Accreditation Board for Conformity Assessment.
He is the co-editor of the Sri Lanka
College of microbiologists, which is the premier professional organization in
Sri Lanka on Bio risk management.
He has been actively involved in promoting
biosafety at the state sector clinical laboratories in Polonnaruwa , Matara ,
Badulla and Kalutara in Sri Lanka from 2008 to 2017 . He was a contributor in
developing the Biosafety Manual for Medical Laboratories 2nd Edition which was
published by the Sri Lanka College of Microbiologists in 2014.
He has served as an executive council member of the “Asia Pacific Biosafety Association “in 2017- 2018 and 2020-2022.
