Dr Tessy Joseph is the Senior Assistant
Director of BSL-3 Core Facility, Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine at National
University of Singapore (NUS Medicine) where she oversees the biorisk
management (ISO 35001: 2019), overall administration, and operations of BSL-3 Core
Facility. In addition to the current portfolio in NUS, she serves in various
organizations and committees at national level relating to biorisk. She also
publishes and conduct trainings on related topics. She is an active member of
Biorisk Association of Singapore (BAS) and was a member of BAS EXCO 2010-2021
and is the current President of BAS. Dr Joseph served as a working group member
of a committee developed a national standard and Singapore Code of Conduct for
Life Sciences Industry and Professionals.
Dr Joseph is a Registered Biosafety Professional (RBP) by American Biosafety Association and certified professional in ‘Biorisk Management’, ‘Biological Risk Assessment’ and ‘Biosafety Cabinet Selection, Installation and Safe Use’ by International Federation of Biosafety Associations (IFBA). She is also a certified ISO 45001 Lead Auditor.
Dr Joseph holds a Ph.D. in Life Sciences from National University of Singapore (NUS) and worked as a Scientist in NUS Medicine for 8 years. Before taking up the current role with BSL-3 Core Facility in 2019, she was the Group Leader of the Biomedical Dovion at NUS Office of Safety Heath and Environment (OSHE), that is responsible for safety and health management of research laboratories in NUS. She has developed University/facility level Safety & Health Policies/Directives, Manuals, Guidelines, Emergency Response Procedures.
